The @StudioTeaBreak account is great fun to follow on twitter. They regularly set drawing challenges for all ages and abilities, and lots of professional artists and illustrators join in. My particular favourite is the Monday #MythicalMashup. For obvious reasons, this one caught my eye.

It was exactly the kind of logo I had in mind for the shop, but I was after tools instead of toilette items. A few twitter messages and emails later, and I had commissioned Dave Windett to make me this.

He made the gorgon look more like me, and gave her snakes plenty of crafty things to do. I absolutely love her! If you’re a fan too, take a look at Dave’s other work at his website.

And etsy and other online shop folks, if you’re looking for a new logo, why not take a look at the artists on twitter (or Facebook or deviantart) and see if anybody suits your style? Or if you have a favourite illustrator already, why not ask if they take (paid) commissions*? It never hurts to ask…

* You don’t ask an artist to spend their time making something for you for free, obvs.
