I entered the Scottish Book Trust’s 50 word fiction competition for September. They run one every month, and it’s open to everybody (in Scotland or not). September’s story had to include a bridge. I didn’t win, but it motivated me to complete the first fiction I’ve written in ages.
I still managed to put a plot hole in the first draft, and as usual, way more of the world was in my head than ended up on the paper. I am extremely lucky to have the talented Ms. Sebold as a writing and crit buddy to get me back on track.
Here’s the finished piece. I hope you enjoy it.
