I finished the round basket I was making with chunky yarn. I’m not going to lie, I’m quite happy with this one. I think it looks like a friendly, handmade object, and making it one stitch at a time reminded me of making coil pots, one pinch of clay at a time.

It holds one hell of a lot of yarn (super important!), fits in the Kallax unit (important!),  and you can use the handles to pick it up and carry it as well as yanking it off the shelf.

This was where I had got to.

Finished off the top of the basket with a flared rim to give it a defined shape.

I knew I wanted big round handles, reminiscent of cauldrons or huge ali baba baskets.

I can fit a lot of balls of yarn in here!

Because I’m using amigurumi spiral technique, there’s a bit of a jitter where each new stripe starts.

Proof that the handles work to pick it up and carry it around.

It will be going in the shop shortly. And I will be making some more.
